David Connor

Arranger, Production Assistant, Bassist

A musician who is equally at home in many styles of music, double bassist David Connor is Assistant Principal Double Bass of the Houston Ballet Orchestra. He performs with the Houston Symphony through his ongoing role as a Community Embedded Musician, and gives classes and clinics throughout the greater Houston area. He has performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony and spends his summers performing with the Britt Festival Orchestra.

As an educator, he is on faculty at Texas Southern University, the LA Phil’s YOLA National Festival, and has coached the bass section of the Academia de la Filarmónica de Medellín, Colombia. He was a fellow at the New World Symphony from 2013-15, holds a Masters in Music from Rice University where he studied with Timothy Pitts and Paul Ellison, and a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University where he studied with Jeffrey Turner. He has been a Young Artist with Da Camera of Houston, received fellowships at Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, and the New York String Orchestra Seminar, and attended the Domaine Forget and Sarasota summer music festivals. In 2021 David joined the Houston-based “Monarch Chamber Players” and formed his own jazz & classical crossover ensemble, “David Connor and Friends,” to pursue his passion for performing and arranging chamber music.
